Please read this help page before using MP3 ID3V1V2 TAG EDIT & SORT TOOL to prevent file damage, accidental id3 tag removals, wrong copying and renaming actions with your mp3 files, system error messages.
This guideline gives your full information about working with our program. Follow the step by step.

Run “mp3_id3_tag_tool.exe”

1. Select a disk or path name to the folder with mp3 files you want to edit - step 1, see the image below.

2. Press the button “Search” to start mp3 files searching - step 2, see the image below.

3. Start to edit tag data in the tag fields of the found mp3 files - see the image below.

Tip: Highly recommended option for beginners to open for editing the files, placed on the disk and in folders with full read/write access for you (hard drives, flash disks, network disk etc.), not CD-DVD-ROM Drives to prevent system write errors.

For advanced users highly recommended seeing the “Copy&Rename” section below.

How to edit tag fields:
1. To edit tag fields select the field you need to edit and left click your mouse or press “Enter” on your keyboard.
2. To clear the field press “Enter” on keyboard or left click for field selection and press “Delete” or “Backspace” key.
3. To “Undo” action use “CTRL+Z” on keyboard.
4. Use “CTRL+C” to copy field and “CTRL+V” to paste.
5. Use “Tab”, “UpKey”, “DownKey”, “LeftKey”, “RightKey” keys to move to the next field.
6. To be sure that you edit exactly right file tags simply press “Play Mp3” button to play the file by default mp3 player in your system.

Tip: “Path” and “Filename” fields must not be edited cause the changing of these fields loose paths and filenames information for all program operations. These fields are only for user info about the found files (paths to folders). If you erased any of these fields, please use “Restore From Backup”, checking “Paths” box. This action will restore “ID3”, “Path”, and “Filename” data for all files.

How to update ID3 Tags:
1. To update ID3 V1 tags please check “ID3V1” box and press “Update” button. If before updating files did not have ID3V1 tag, they will appear. After the finishing of the updating process (progress bar will achieve maximum), auto refresh function repeats the search again by the selected path and the program will show all changes of ID3 tags.
2. To update ID3 V2 tags please check “ID3V2” box and press “Update” button. If before updating files did not have ID3V2 tag, they will appear. Auto refresh function will work similar as above.
3. To update both ID3 V1 and ID3 V2 tags simply check both boxes “ID3V1” and “ID3V2” and press “Update” button. Auto refresh function will work similar as above.

How to remove ID3 Tags:
1. To remove ID3 V1 tags please check “ID3V1” box and press “Remove” button. Message window will appear to confirm your operation - press “Yes” to remove ID3 V1 tags, or “No” to cancel operation. After the finishing of the removing operation auto refresh function will work similar as above.
2. To remove ID3 V2 tags please check “ID3V2” box and press “Remove” button. Message window will appear to confirm your operation - press “Yes” to remove ID3 V2 tags, or “No” to cancel operation. Auto refresh function will work similar as above.
3. To remove both ID3 V1 and ID3 V2 tags simply check both boxes “ID3V1” and “ID3V2” and press “Remove” button. Auto refresh function will work similar as above.

How to clear similar tags in all fields:
To clear any or all selected tag types in all fields, please check the box or boxes you need to clear and press “Clear” button. Message window will appear to confirm your operation - press “Yes” to clear tag fields, or “No” to cancel operation.

Tip: If you cleared necessary tag types fields, please use “Restore From Backup” panel described below.

How to restore the tags and other data in the edited window:
To restore the ID3 tags and other data please check the box or boxes you want to restore and press “Restore” button. Message window will appear to confirm your operation - press “Yes” to restore fields, or “No” to cancel operation.

Tip: All restored data will be from the initial data, loaded from mp3 files during the last search operation.
How to paste similar data to the tag fields (group pasting):
To paste similar data to the tag fields please check box or boxes you want to paste and enter the data in the text region of “Paste To All” panel. Press “Paste” button.

Tip: If you made some errors during group pasting you have only one possibility to restore the field’s data - restore them from initial values as described above.

How to copy mp3 files with edited tags:
To copy mp3 files with edited tags firstly select new path where the files will be copied. This path must be different from the initial search path.

Select Another Path For Copy and Rename Operations

Then select the appropriate “Copy Method” from the list, such as “<Artist-Title.mp3>”, “<Artist Folder/Artist-Title.mp3>”, “<Artist Folder/Title.mp3>” or “<File#.mp3>”, and press the “Run” button. Message window will appear to confirm your operation - press “Yes” to copy files, or “No” to cancel operation. All the tags fields will be placed into the both ID3 V1 and ID3 V2 tags for each file copied.

Tip: If the program will find existing file with the same file name in the folder during the copy operation, new file WILL NOT be copied, that is why may appear the situation with decreased file’s quantity in the target folders.
How to rename mp3 files with edited tags:
To rename mp3 files with edited tags please select in the “Copy Method” “Copying disabled” option and then select appropriate “Rename” method. Then press “Run” button. Message window will appear to confirm your operation - press “Yes” to rename files, or “No” to cancel operation. All the tags fields will be placed into the both ID3 V1 and ID3 V2 tags for each file renamed.

Tip: For the advanced user we may recommend fast editing mode. Firstly start search to find files will be edited. Then edit all the tag data fields and select copy or rename method as described above. The program during copy/rename operation with renaming action will do updating of the ID3 V1 and ID3 V2 tags. If you don’t need to rename existing files using presented methods, please use “ID3 TAG Update” panel instead.
